Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation is a surgical technique many women pursue to enhance their breast size and body silhouette. The procedure provides women options for refining the size, shape and firmness of their breasts.

Dr. Meredith consults with clients to explore their needs and combines those with his expertise on factors such as breast shape and skin condition, as well as balance and proportion with the rest of the body to ensure optimal outcomes.

Prior to the procedure, typical discussions between Dr Meredith and clients include:

  • Different types and sizes of implants and how implants achieve various results.
  • The procedure itself and where incisions are made and implants placed for best aesthetic results.
  • Determination of a plan, expected outcomes, and care following the procedure.

Breast Lift

Our skin naturally loses its elasticity over time and that combined with childbirth and breast-feeding can affect the size and shape of the breasts. A breast lift procedure, called a mastopexy, involves removing excess skin from the breasts and reshaping and tightening the area to create a more youthful appearance. Many clients opt for this procedure in conjunction with a reduction in the size of the areola as this area can become stretched over time as well.

Discussions with Dr. Meredith about considerations for this procedure include:

  • Expectations on reshaping the breast, procedure and incisions.
  • Nipple size and placement
  • Breast symmetry
  • Determination of a plan, expected outcomes, and care following the procedure.

Breast Reduction

Some women with large breasts choose to reduce their breast size to ease comfort (reduced pain in upper back, mech and shoulders) or achieve a size that is more proportionate to their body. Breast reduction surgery can also improve self-image and boost self-confidence as well as comfort during physical activities.

The procedure is formally called a reduction mammaplasty and involves removing excess fat, tissue and skin through incisions on the breasts.  The breasts are reshaped and the nipple and areola are repositioned. The technique used to reduce the size of the breast is determined based on individual needs, breast composition, the amount of reduction required and Dr. Meredith’s expertise and experience.

Prior to the procedure, Dr. Meredith will discuss important considerations and anticipated outcomes with each patient, including:

  • Personal reasons for the surgery, expectations and desired outcomes
  • Any risks or potential complications associated with breast reduction surgery
  • How best to prepare for breast reduction surgery
  • The surgical techniques and incision options that are recommended
  • What to expect regarding recovery time and care instructions
